The hips! This joint is responsible for our ability to walk comfortably on our two feet. Do you or someone you know have pain in the knees, hips, or lower back? The functionality of the pelvis and it's supporting muscles play an enormous role in our day-to-day lives, including supporting our knees and lower back. Pain in these areas are a common issue for yogis, where we are asked to move our hip joints, legs, and pelvic bones in all different directions. The workshop will begin by first learning the important muscles & bones of the pelvic girdle, and how to properly engage, locate, & feel these areas. We'll discuss compensatory patterns, over-achieving muscles, and other common issues that we see as yogis. Then, we'll move through a therapeutic yoga practice focused on creating strength and intelligence in the muscles that support the pelvic girdle.
Through this immersion into the hips, you’ll walk away with greater knowledge of how to help yourself and others create strength and longevity in the hips, pelvis, and lower back. This workshop is great for yoga teachers looking to expand their knowledge of anatomy, alignment, and safe sequencing – and for yoga practitioners of any level.
