On the first Full Moon of the year, join Abby for this special event to align with yourself and the collective wisdom of celestial energies. We'll begin by grounding into the present moment, centering into ourselves, and invoking the support of our guides and ancestors through ceremony. Then, we'll move through a fiery yoga practice that will weave together pranayama, asana, and guided visualization to empower and connect you with your heart and spirit.
This workshop is for any yoga practitioner with any level of experience who is interested in empowering their individual practice. The workshop will begin with a discussion on our two basic principles (Intra-Abdominal Pressure and Ground Force Reaction) that can be directly applied towards your individual practice and body patterns. Abby will weave together knowledge from over a decade of working with bodies as a massage therapist and yoga teacher to offer information that's practical, accessible, and applicable. Then, we'll move through a yoga practice where we'll put skill into action, apply that new knowledge as a diagnostic tool, and gain a direct experience of our unique bodies.
These practices will open the gate to our true yoga practice - the ability to be humble and open minded. The workshop will challenge your ego, show you the truth of your body, and give you the sweet opportunity to practice acceptance, humility, and kindness. Abby will guide students to work with inquiry and playfulness, so that each person makes aligned, mindful choices using the information received from these practices in a non-judgmental way. Each person will leave the workshop having learned easy-to-understand functional anatomy, with the tools and skillfulness to tailor your practice to your individual needs in the future. This workshop is designed to take your practice to the next level by incorporating stronger, smoother, and more playful transitions.You will learn how to get lighter and quieter in your floats and jumps, how to smooth out the edges of your movements, and how to optimize your movements to eliminate unnecessary energy dumps.
Float into Chaturanga Dandasana — from the top of the mat, from standing splits, and from handstand.
Float to the top of the yoga mat — from Down Dog, and through Fire Jumps.
Roll over your toes correctly and smoothly in your transitions — from Chaturanga into Upward Facing Dog, and from Up Dog into Downward Facing Dog.
Step through into standing postures.
Incorporate arm balance and inversion play into your flow.
Abby will share useful tips that you can incorporate off your mat to increase the health and longevity of your wrist and shoulder joints, and new ways to play with your strength. Chakras are powerful energy centers through which we uptake and transmute Source energy into our physical, emotional, and spiritual bodies. When we experience stress, anxiety, or trauma, our physical and energetic bodies contract and cut off our ability to communicate with Source energy. In this special workshop series co-hosted by Lighthouse Yoga Center, we'll soften, expand, and empower our chakras so that we can harmonize with universal energy.
Each session of this series will begin by learning about the chakras and their unique energetic and emotional tenors. Then, we'll weave together yoga asana, pranayama practices, and guided meditation to directly awaken each chakra, and help you discover which of your individual energy centers are strongest and which are blocked or constricted. Each part of this series is designed to build your skillfulness in feeling your chakras, and to deepen your visceral experience of prana moving within, through, and around your energy centers.

Join Abby in collaboration with Lighthouse Yoga Center for this special 6-week online series. The Yoga Sutras are an ancient text that define the Eight Limbs of Yoga (Ashtanga) and explain in detail how to practice and live yogically. One of the 8 limbs is THE YAMAS - a set of five yogic principles that guide us how to act ethically in our lives. The yamas are the first of the eight limbs, and actually precede asana practice as part of a yogic lifestyle!
In the special in-depth series, Abby will guide you to explore these five principles - not only what they are, but how to experience and embody them in your physical yoga practice. Each session will begin with discussion, followed by a yoga asana practice which will integrate the yama into the physical practice. You'll embody each yama, and learn how to take them from your yoga mat into your daily life. This series will delve into how to practice asana ethically, and how the five yamas innately guide you away from stress and towards an abiding sense of inner peace within yourself and in relation to others.
