Join Abby in collaboration with Bluebird Sky Yoga for this special series where she'll weave together knowledge from over a decade of working with bodies as a massage therapist and yoga teacher to offer information that's practical, accessible, and applicable. Each workshop will begin with functional anatomy - we'll discuss how the joints are meant to naturally move, compensatory patterns, over-achieving muscles, and other important issues. Then, we'll move through a therapeutic yoga practice focused on creating strength and intelligence in the area of focus. You'll learn how to frame your understanding of anatomy in a way that is individualized to your body, and how to use your musculature to support safe strengthening and opening in your yoga practice.
The Shoulders, Arms, & Wrists
In yoga, we are asked to place our whole body weight onto the wrist and shoulder joints in common asanas like downward dog and chatturanga, as well as in inversions and arm balances. In this workshop, discover what causes the day-to-day long-term aches and pains in the shoulders, elbows, and wrists, and how we can use yoga to help alleviate these common issues. Learn to create stability and spaciousness in the shoulders, arms, and wrists.
